From December 11 till March 28 2010 a Special Van Gogh art exhibition is held at the National Museum of History in Taipei. Because Swatch is sponsoring this exhibition also 3 Special Van Gogh watches have been released. Each of the are limited to 500 pcs.

3. Terrace of a cafe at night (Fleurs d'Artifice from 2003, GN209)

This years Chinese New Year special will be called “The Blessing Sign”. The watch is a Red Standard Gent watch and is packaged with a little tiger. This is because 2010 is the year of the tiger.

On December 18 till 21 the traditional Swatch The Club Xmas event took place in New York City. Around 120 collectors from all over the world came to New York to participate in the The Club Christmas event. To celebrate this years The Club Christmas event a special was released called Jingle Shine. The special is a Plastic Chrono watch packed in a gold bowl. The special is limited and numbered to 170 pcs. The special comes with a black box with on top an imprint stating “Swatch ‘09 Xmas Special Limited Edition”. The watch itself is also numbered at the back of the head.

Is Swatch running out of ideas?

I was so very excited when I heard of the new Van Gogh limited editions. His paintings are very surreal and would make some very interesting designs for a Swatch.

Then I saw the pictures of the three watches. Who does Swatch think they are kidding? As a collector, I am not at all pleased with an old Swatch case that was fitted with a new strap. Anybody can change a strap!
